Privacy Policy

Gear Kidz is a product-recommendation site for US parents and gift-buyers. This page explains exactly what happens to your data when you read it. The short version: we don't ask you for anything, we don't have accounts, and the only thing we measure is anonymized traffic.

What we collect

Nothing you have to hand over. There is no signup, no login, no newsletter form, and no comment section on Gear Kidz. We never ask for your name, address, or payment details, because there is nothing here to buy — every purchase happens on Amazon, not on this site.

What is collected automatically, by analytics:

  • Pages you view and how long you stay on them
  • Which links you click, including outbound Amazon links
  • How you arrived (search engine, direct, referring site)
  • General device and browser type, and approximate region (country/state level)

This is aggregate, anonymized usage data. It tells us "the balance bike guide is getting read on mobile" — it does not tell us who you are.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Tag Manager to load Google Analytics 4 (GA4). GA4 sets first-party cookies to recognize returning visits and measure sessions. We use it for one purpose: figuring out which guides actually help readers so we know what to write next.

We do not run third-party ad networks, retargeting pixels, or social tracking scripts on this site.

Amazon affiliate links

As an Amazon Associate, Gear Kidz earns from qualifying purchases. Our product links carry a tracking tag so Amazon can credit us a commission at no extra cost to you. When you click one, you leave this site — from that point, Amazon's privacy notice governs your data, not ours. Amazon may set its own cookies to attribute the purchase. We never see your order details, your Amazon account, or what you actually bought — only anonymized commission totals.

For how commissions affect (and don't affect) our recommendations, see our affiliate disclosure.

Children's privacy

Gear Kidz writes about products for children, but the site is written for adults — parents, relatives, and gift-buyers. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has somehow submitted personal information to us, email us and we'll delete it.

How to opt out

Any of these will stop analytics from measuring you, and none of them will change what you can read here:

Your rights

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect and to request its deletion. Because we don't collect or store personal identifiers ourselves — only GA4's anonymized analytics — there is typically nothing on our end to delete. Email us anyway and we'll confirm that in writing.

We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law. We have never sold reader data and have no plans to.

If you're outside the US and covered by GDPR or a similar law, the same practical answer applies: contact us and we'll tell you exactly what we hold (in almost every case, nothing tied to you).

Data retention

GA4 analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics property settings and is deleted on Google's schedule after that. We keep no separate copy of visitor data.

Changes to this policy

If we add anything that changes the answers above — an email newsletter, for instance — we'll update this page and change the "last updated" date at the top. Material changes get called out plainly rather than buried.
